At this years convention Wyoming Auctioneers Association (WAA) teamed up with Montana Auctioneer Association (MAA), joined by the absolute best of the best expert bid-calling professionals in the two states. The Convention was held from January 7-9 in Sheridan, Wyoming with more than 100 Auctioneers and members attending the Event. The Convention included seminars from renowned Professional Auctioneer, Tom “Spanky” Assiter, who in 2007 was inducted in Texas Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame and the National Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame. The 3 day event was to aid member auctioneers in learning new auction skills, improving old skills, and to ultimately advance in the auction profession.
The Bid Calling Contest was plenty of fun, mixed with some good ol’ fashion, healthy competitiveness. I was excited to battle it out with other Auctioneers from all over Wyoming and Montana, for the men’s and woman’s championship titles. Monies from the auction were donated to the Johnson County Family Crisis Center and Legacy Pregnancy Center. The auctions were well attended and full of loads of excitement and fun for all!
Also at the Convention, I had the opportunity to hear the very talented young girls of the bluegrass band “Prairie Wildfire”. The Buffalo, Wyoming trio’s performance included some bluegrass/country classics as well as some of their original songs. The girls unique harmony style wowed the audience leading to a bid calling event auctioning off all of their CD’s. Check out “Will the Circle be Unbroken”.
As a result of the work hard and dedicated members of the WAA and MAA the 2016 WyMont Joint Auctioneers Convention was an awesome and inspiring experience for all. We met some truly amazing and interesting people, shared lots of stories and learned important new skills to help us, as auctioneers to help you, our clients.
