Hank Williams Sr. joined a radio program out of Shreveport, “Louisiana Hayride,” with a back up band called The Drifting Cowboys.  Six years earlier, he signed a recording contract.  This contract went up for bid at auction and sold for $940.

Oh, the stories this guitar could tell.

In 2009, auction powerhouse Christie’s sold the guitar he played while on the Hayride for a whopping $134,500!  Eleven years earlier, another guitar belonging to Williams was auctioned by Christie’s for $112,000.

In 2010, an outfit one of the members of the Drifting Cowboys wore went up for auction with an estimated price of $600-$800, but the hammer fell at $2,176.

A microphone from Louisiana Hayride went up for auction in 2012.  The starting minimum bid was $10,000 and the reserve was not met, and in fact, the item didn’t receive a single bid, though it had been used by many legendary artists, in addition to Hank Williams.
